Ilta Lakeudelle – a more relaxed kind of worship service

The parish is a home where everyone is welcome. There is a place for everyone to serve using their own gifts. It is also a safe haven where you can simply come as you are, take a moment to breathe and be refreshed. The parish is a place where the living triune God is at work, encouraging and renewing us.

Ilta Lakeudelle worship community

It was this dream that gave rise to the Ilta Lakeudelle worship community of Seinäjoki Parish in the summer of 2021. The Ilta Lakeudelle service centres around band-led music, nourishing Bible teaching, prayer and Holy Communion. Gospel music, hymns and worship songs all have their place in the service. Each service also includes Sunday school for children and, in most cases, an activity-based Junior Sunday School for school-aged children. There are many ways to volunteer in the service, for example through music, children’s activities, prayer, decorating the space or being part of the welcome team.

In addition to the worship services, Ilta Lakeudelle now offers a variety of activities, including new and established small groups, Bible lectures, Alpha courses, brunches, camps, training sessions for volunteers, and Pyhän äärellä evenings of worship and prayer.

Volunteers are needed for a wide range of roles in Ilta Lakeudelle worship services and related activities:

  • for the Vision Team, assisting staff with practical arrangements and planning.
  • for the In God’s Presence Team (Pyhän äärellä).
  • for the Sunday School and Junior Church Team.
  • for practical volunteer tasks, such as transporting equipment and event setup.
  • people to participate in open planning gatherings throughout the year, for example at brunch meetings and special events.
  • people to operate PowerPoint presentations during services.
  • people for the Welcome Team.
  • people for prayer ministries, including intercessory prayer and prayer support.
  • people for various music ministry roles.
  • people as camp assistants, helping with children’s programmes, speaking roles, and practical arrangements.
  • people for sound and lighting operations.
  • people for Finnish–English interpretation.
  • people to help organise and serve at brunch events.
  • people for speaking roles in worship services and related events.
  • people as offering collectors.
  • people to support social media and visual communications.
  • people to lead new small groups.
  • people for additional volunteer opportunities throughout the year, such as Easter events, including barbecuing, distributing programmes, sound and lighting, transporting equipment, and prayer ministries.

There are opportunities to serve according to a wide variety of gifts, skills, and interests, whether in hospitality, prayer, music, technology, leadership, communications, or practical support.
