How does the child care assitance work?
Pikkuhelppi is available from Tuesday to Thursday, from 1:30 pm to 4:00 pm. This free service is offered according to need, either for a child or for the whole family. Activities can take place wherever suits the family best, such as at home, at the parish centre, or at a playground.
Pikkuhelppi provides low-threshold support tailored to the needs of each family. This may include childcare assistance, a listening ear, or simply someone to spend time with. The family workers are there to support you, so please feel free to share your wishes and needs with them.
We respond to enquiries on weekdays between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm, usually within the same day. When making a booking, you will agree on a suitable time for the Pikkuhelppi visit and provide your name and contact details. All information is treated confidentially and is stored only for the duration of the activity season.
Tutors
The tutors at Pikkuhelppi are childcare workers who have earned a vocational degree in early childhood education from the church.
Early childhood education activity season
Our fall 2026 activities begin in August during week 33.
The exception is Pikkuhelppi, which starts in week 34.
Our spring 2027 activities begin in January during week 2 and end in June during week 24.
There are no weekly activities on public holidays or during vacation weeks 9 and 42.
